Houses on stilts are a common site throughout Mississippi and Louisiana, particularly on the coastline along the Gulf of Mexico, where rising water is a constant threat. “Eroding Precipices” emphasizes the comedy of stilt houses built upon high ground, but peril is imminent; turbulent waters will always, inevitably, erode away what was once solid ground.

In the house painting series, the houses represent personalities and their differing states of mind. The surroundings are life’s joys and challenges depicted as emotional landscapes.
